A truly good life. Think of Dutch free-range chickens, naturally raised Polderhoen with the 3*** Better Life certification from the animal protection agency, or even a step higher: Label Rouge chicken from France. Naturally, it costs a bit more than factory-farmed chicken from the bio-industry, that goes without saying. The animals live longer, have free range, a natural day and night rhythm, are raised with much more love, and—importantly—have grown up without artificial feed and unnecessary antibiotics. A conscious choice that is good for both people and animals. Ordering chicken online isn’t yet part of everyone's routine, even though it’s actually very simple. Online, you can easily choose your favorite breed, meat type, weight, and delivery date. The Butchery delivers Monday through Friday all over the Netherlands. You receive your order on a delivery day of your choice between 17:00 – 22:00, delivered frozen. Quick-frozen, to be precise, meaning it’s frozen within the hour, preserving the meat’s quality. If you order before 11:00, you can have your chicken at home the same evening if desired. Ordering chicken online is just very convenient. Coming home late from work or not having the opportunity to go to the butcher is no longer an excuse to eat factory-farmed chicken. After all, a freezer fills up quickly… ;-)

What is a Chicken Leg / Chicken Thigh?

A whole chicken leg consists of a lower leg and an upper leg and can be sliced between the joints. Chicken legs are wonderfully juicy and suitable for the oven, BBQ, and also perfect for making the most delicious chicken soup or chicken broth. Not everyone likes drumsticks, but believe us... seasoning the skin nicely and baking it crispy is truly a great idea!

What is Parelhoen?

Serving Parelhoen is definitely a good idea. Parelhoen tastes a bit wilder than chicken but is deliciously tender and versatile. The flavor is somewhat similar to pheasant but milder. Parelhoen is often prepared with bacon (on the breast) because the meat is so lean and tends to dry out quickly. But then you immediately get a golden combination.
