Turkey is a lean type of poultry with a generous amount of meat on the bone. The meat is light in color and tender in texture. A whole turkey is best roasted slowly in the oven, where its natural fats help create a crispy skin and juicy meat.
Thawing tips for the turkey
Our turkey is delivered flash frozen and therefore really needs some time to thaw. The best way is to take it out of the freezer three days in advance. Then let it thaw slowly in the refrigerator, still in its vacuum packaging, or in a cool place such as a shed. Check the day before whether it has thawed nicely. If not, let it continue thawing outside the refrigerator for a little longer.
Need it faster? Place the turkey, still in the vacuum bag, in a container with lukewarm water. Refresh the water every hour as soon as it has cooled. Usually it will be nicely thawed within half a day.
