THE BUTCHERY BEST WEBSHOP 2024 - CATEGORY FOOD
Amidst the busy Easter period, Bert-Jan and Suzanne traveled on March 28, 2024, to the Award Gala at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin for the presentation of the prestigious Shopping Awards.
The Shopping Awards are the most important retail prizes in the Netherlands. This was already the 23rd edition, and no less than 238 companies competed for the win this year. After weeks of anticipation, the winners of the 2024 Public Awards were announced on Thursday, March 28. The awards were presented by host Dione de Graaff during the gala at the renowned Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk aan Zee. The Public Awards were handed out in twelve main categories and 29 subcategories, including the Food category. The winners were determined based on votes, a rating from the public, and the judgment of four industry experts. Thanks to all your votes and the experts’ evaluation, The Butchery emerged as the winner this year. What a wonderful evening it was... So, so, so proud!

Winnaar shopping awards categorie eten 2025
Op vrijdag 28 maart was, net zoals afgelopen jaar, het Awardgala in Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin voor de uitreiking van de Shopping Awards 2025. En wauw, ook dit jaar hebben we met trots een prijs in ontvangst mogen nemen. De publieksprijs 'Goud' in de categorie eten! We zijn hier waanzinnig trots op!
De Shopping Awards zijn de belangrijkste prijzen in Nederland voor de detailhandel. Dit jaar vond alweer de 24ste editie plaats en deden er maar liefst 248 bedrijven mee in de race om de felbegeerde publieksprijzen. De winnaars werden bepaald op basis van stemmen, een rapportcijfer van het publiek én de beoordeling van 4 vakexperts.
En dankzij al jullie stemmen en de beoordeling van de vakjury, mogen wij ons dit jaar nog een jaar de Beste Webwinkel in de categorie Eten noemen. Wat een eer, wat een trots! Deze award voelt als de ultieme beloning voor het harde werk dat we dag in dag uit met liefde verzetten.

5X Gold at Arnhem Rookworst City
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the 50th edition of Arnhem Rookworst City took place — the largest national smoked sausage competition in the Netherlands, open to all butchers and sausage makers. The competition features various categories, and The Butchery went home with no less than 5 gold medals. A true crown on the craftsmanship of our respected Master Sausage Makers.
ARNHEM ROOKWORST CITY
If there's one city in the Netherlands that truly deserves to host a smoked sausage competition, it’s Arnhem. In Gelderland, they know better than anyone how to craft top-quality sausage. The fact that we returned with 5 gold awards (including one **gold with star** — which says it all) is a huge recognition from the real experts. And yes, we’re incredibly proud of it! Especially because we recently developed some exciting new flavor combinations: LIVAR Smoked Sausage Pink Devil, LIVAR Smoked Sausage Cheddar & Jalapeño, LIVAR Smoked Sausage Old Amsterdam & Mustard, and Ibérico Smoked Sausage Black Pepper. All of them were literally award-winning and each received a GOLD medal!
Award-Winning at the Slavakto
A little introduction. Each year, the Butchers’ Craft Competitions are organized under the name SLAVAKTO. Many butchers spend the entire year preparing for it. Products are submitted for these competitions and judged by a professional jury. It's a wonderful event, with the award ceremony taking place at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. And once again (in 2024), it turned out great for us! Our results?
- Our sausage maker Marchertho Pluim was crowned Dutch Junior Champion in Sausage Making and Cold Cuts.
20-year-old Marchertho started as an apprentice at Slagerij Lantinga and has grown into an important member of our sausage-making team. The jury judged his entries — including smoked sausage and dry sausage — based on aroma, taste, appearance, and level of difficulty. Marchertho on his win: "I just try to do my best, but I do strive for perfection. It always has to be right." His supervisor, Master Sausage Maker Henri, added: "We weren’t surprised by the win. Marchertho is precise and knowledgeable — he absolutely deserved this award." - The Butchery has been crowned provincial champion of Drenthe
Although we now deliver throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, our beating heart is still based in beautiful Meppel, Drenthe. That’s where our loyal team works hard every day to create an outstanding assortment — and this recognition is a wonderful reward for all that effort! - The Butchery (Meppel) was crowned champion in the category Delicatessen Specialties | Meal Components
Of course, we’re super proud of this one too. This award — this time for our Korean Short Ribs, available triple trimmed or as a meat topping — once again highlights our craftsmanship. All of our meat is lovingly prepared by our butchers into the finest products. - The Butchery (Meppel) was crowned champion in the category Sausage Making | Specialties & Pâtés
We’re incredibly proud of our sausage-making department! Our smoked sausage with cheddar and jalapeño (a must-try!) even won gold at the prestigious butchers’ competition.
