What is Pork Chop?

Pork chop is perhaps one of the most consumed cuts of pork in the Netherlands. And rightly so. It’s a wonderfully versatile piece of meat with a rich flavor. The meat comes from the entire back, also known as the chop loin, and is divided into three types: loin chop, rib chop (cutlet), and shoulder chop. Each with its own unique meat characteristics. In the video below, you can see all three lined up...

What is a Rib Chop?

The rib chop comes from the middle part of the chop loin and is also known as a cutlet. Rib chop is relatively lean and firm meat but still tender, partly due to a beautiful fat edge. Rib chops come with bone, which adds extra flavor. These are sure to delight meat lovers. In the video below, you can see how our chef Ruben Meijboom transforms this everyday meat into a culinary masterpiece.

What is Shoulder Chop?

Shoulder chop is cut from the front part of the chop loin. This meat contains a lot of fat and relatively little bone. Rich in flavor because fat is a flavor enhancer, and it keeps the meat nice and juicy. No wonder the shoulder chop is a popular piece of everyday meat enjoyed regularly in many households! A shoulder chop also works wonderfully on the BBQ.

What is a Loin Chop?

Loin chop is cut from the back end of the chop loin, where there’s no longer a rib. It gets its name from the piece of pork tenderloin attached to the chop. You can see this in the video below. The loin chop has a small T-shaped bone. It is the leanest type of chop, light in color, and rich in flavor. A great neutral meat to which you can add your own personal touch!

How to Cook Pork Chops

Cooking pork chops is not difficult. The meat requires little more than some salt and pepper. Sear it and then let it cook over low heat for a delicious piece of meat. Of course, you can also make it truly special. In the One Minute Grill Academy, our chef Ruben Meijboom shows you how. Highly recommended!

Buying Pork Chops Online?

Buying pork chops online is no longer unusual. In fact, our selection is enormous, and you can choose from premium breeds like LIVAR, Iberico, Mangalitza, or naturally raised Veluwe Land Pig. All high-quality breeds that have had a good life. And this good life goes far beyond the “good life meat” you find in supermarkets. Everyday meat that’s still special. Perfect for the conscious meat eaters among us. And for true gourmets, because the good life of these premium pig breeds is reflected in the taste. That’s just logical. The meat is simply more tender and flavorful than industrial meat.

Kotelet Suisse, farmer’s chop, shoulder chop, loin chop, or rib chop: pick your favorites, place your order, and we’ll send them to you shock-frozen. Retaining flavor, texture, and nutrients. Nothing strange about that!
