Lean & mean, this recipe by Robert // @vurigekolen. It’s not quite a sloppy Joe, as Robert replaced the tomato sauce with cheddar, and that’s a choice we fully embrace! Feel free, however, to add tomato sauce (or ketchup and Worcestershire sauce) if that sounds good to you. Robert served it on our fun red burger buns and honestly, doesn’t it look amazing? Messy and sloppy, just the way we like it! And it’s super simple too!

This recipe is of course even tastier if you choose a distinctive beef breed such as USDA Prime Black Angus

Sloppy Joe

Preparation cheesy Sloppy Joe

1. Cut the onions in half and then into thin half rings.
2. Cook the onions together with the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar for at least 30 minutes over low heat.
3. In another pan, cook the ground beef until nicely browned and at the end add a tablespoon of your favorite BBQ seasoning.
4. Add the ground beef to the onions and mix well.
5. Divide the beef and onion mixture into portions in the pan. Place two slices of cheddar on top of each portion.
6. Let the cheddar melt and place a sliced open bun on top.
7. Flip the bun with a spatula so the melted cheddar sticks to the bun.
8. Serve immediately.

ENJOY!
