Marinated Denver steak skewers

Ingredients

2-4 skewers
2 Denver steaks
200 ml Olive oil
2 Cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
150 ml Soy sauce
Juice of 1 lemon
Splash Worcestershire sauce

This cut comes from the chuck, just below the shoulder of the cow. It is a muscle that does very little work, which makes it wonderfully tender. I [Jeremy] love adding bold flavors to my dishes, so we start with a simple marinade. Prepare it a day in advance so the flavors can really soak into the meat.

Preparing marinated Denver steak skewers

  • Finely chop the garlic and mix all ingredients into a marinade
  • Marinate the steaks for at least 8 hours. Crucial for a flavor explosion!
  • Preheat your BBQ or pan. I am using a Shichirin, a small Japanese grill that cooks close to the coals and adds tons of flavor
  • Cut the steak into equal pieces, uneven pieces will cook unevenly
  • Thread the steak onto skewers and place on the BBQ. Be careful, this cooks quickly so stay close
  • The skewers only need about 2 minutes per side. I finish with sesame seeds and finely chopped spring onion, but feel free to get creative
  • Serve hot, hot, hot with a refreshing Asian beer
