What is the Drenthe Landscape Cattle?

We call these cattle grazers of the Drenthe landscape (Scottish Highlanders and Limousins). The Drentse Landschap Foundation manages approximately eight thousand hectares of natural landscape and does so as carefully as possible. Just like before, hundreds of cattle and sheep graze here. The animals feed on everything the Drenthe landscape has to offer and thus contribute to the vegetation. By extracting nutrients from the land, old plant species are given new opportunities. However, overgrazing is not the intention. That is why a selection takes place every year. Some animals are used elsewhere, some are not. In any case, the grazers of the Drenthe landscape have had a wonderful life and because they have always lived in a natural environment, the meat is of absolute top quality. So win-win. Quality meat as a reward for good care. The animals are naturally kept and raised in nature:

• The grass that the animals eat is not fertilized with fertilizer.

Limousins ​​in the Drenthe Landscape

Limousin cattle are brown/reddish with a lighter head. They do especially well in the richer and drier stream valleys, but also in grassy areas. It is a typical meat breed that owes its name to the French region around the city of Limoges. There are currently about 300 Limousin cattle in the Drenthe Landscape. From spring to autumn, because unlike the Scottish Highlanders, the Limousins ​​are stabled in the winter. These naturally raised Limousins ​​are truly in a class of their own and the 20-day beef package is absolutely competitively priced!
