Secreto sandwich with black olive tapenade and Manchego
Love pork? Then this is a winner. I spotted it on the feed of @duijvelslekker, who got inspired by @smokeygoodness from BBQ King Jord Althuizen. It’s all about the combination, and it’s definitely not complicated. Just a bit of prep and even a kid could do it. Photo: @duijvelslekker
Secreto Sandwich
An olive tapenade, a tomato chutney with peppadews and olive oil, manchego cheese, and of course the secreto — all on a crispy ciabatta. The original recipe uses Secreto Ibérico, but you can easily make it with BBQ secreto, the giveaway of the week. You can buy the olive tapenade ready-made or make it yourself. Same goes for the chutney (finely chopped cherry tomatoes and peppadews, a little crushed garlic, and olive oil). All easy to prep ahead of time. Then it’s just a matter of grilling the secreto on a hot BBQ, flipping once, and toasting the buns to get them nice and crunchy. Warming up the chutney slightly is a good idea too.
Spread the bread with black olive tapenade, add some arugula, top with the secreto, layer the manchego on top, finish with a generous spoon of chutney — and you're done.
Of course, feel free to give it your own twist, but the moral of the story: secreto is super versatile and absolutely rocks on a sandwich. Whatever combo you make of it. Though a Spanish wink is always fun, of course!
ENJOY!
