What is a Prime Rib Roast?
Prime Rib Roasts are roasts we are proud of. Real tough steaks for meat lovers. Such a prime rib roast has its rugged appearance partly due to the bone. Despite its tough exterior, the Prime Rib Roast does not compromise on flavor. Thanks to the bone, they are actually more flavorful than a roast without bone. The Prime Rib Roast category includes not only beef roasts. The Porkroast rack LIVAR is rightfully called a PRIME rib roast, as is the Calf's Frenched rack. So, there is a beautiful Prime Rib Roast available for every gathering, which many BBQ enthusiasts love.
Is There Bone in Prime Rib Roast?
The Prime Rib Roasts we offer at The Butchery include a bone. Such a beautiful roast with bone is a showstopper on the BBQ and, of course, at the table when you carve it. A win-win is that meat with bone is always more flavorful than meat without bone. This is partly due to the collagen between the bone and the meat. Therefore, it's best to remove the bone only after cooking the meat. Planning to remove the bone before cooking? Then we recommend ordering a roast without bone. Choose, for example, a ribeye roast, entrecoteroast, or a porchetta. If you remove the bone before cooking, why would you pay for it?
Roast for the BBQ
The Prime Rib Roast is fantastic for the BBQ. A beautiful, robust piece of meat with bone is ideal for preparing, for example, using the reversed sear method. Many BBQ enthusiasts love this tough, tender, and flavorful roast. Craving pork? Go for a pork roast rack from the Limburgse Kloostervarken. Want to switch it up with calf? Then take a look at the calf's frenched rack. The all-time favorite Prime Rib Roast Black Angus USA always does well, so that's definitely a safe choice.
How Do You Prepare Prime Rib Roast?
There are multiple ways to prepare the Prime Rib Roast. You can choose low & slow, reverse sear, or sous vide. If you choose a pork prime rib roast, keep in mind that you need to use a different internal temperature than for a beef prime rib roast. For example, you could prepare a beef prime rib roast medium rare (54 degrees), while for a pork roast rack you should maintain a minimum internal temperature of 64 degrees for light pink or >70 degrees for well done. Oh, and if you're preparing it on the BBQ and have a cast iron grill, make sure to use it, as you'll get a delicious crispy crust. Ensure that the cast iron grill is blazing hot before placing the meat on it.
What Wine Pairs with Prime Rib Roast?
The best wine to drink with a Prime Rib Roast depends on which roast you choose exactly. A Prime Rib Roast of Black Angus USA pairs better with a different wine than a Pork Roast of the Livar pig. For a rib roast like the Black Angus USA prime rib roast, it's best to choose a wine with sufficient tannins. These tannins counteract the fats in the meat, ensuring a nice balance. So you can choose a Syrah, robust Rioja, Primitivo, or Malbec.
Looking for a wine for a pork roast? Look for a ripe and soft wine, such as a wood-aged Chardonnay if you prefer white, or a Merlot or Shiraz if you prefer red.
