LIVAR stands for the Limburg monastery pig. The animals are raised under the supervision of the monks of Abbey Lilbosch and live calmly on small-scale farms. They are fed locally grown grains and have plenty of space to roam and root outdoors. This way of farming results in pork with a distinctive, full flavour and a beautiful fat distribution. LIVAR is the only Dutch pork to be awarded three stars by the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals, recognising both quality and respect for animal welfare.

How do you cook a sausage?
A sausage is easy to prepare by gently turning it in a frying pan. Briefly soaking it in water can help prevent the sausage from bursting, although this is considered a rather old-fashioned habit. Always turn a sausage using tongs rather than piercing it with a fork, as puncturing the casing causes the meat to lose its juices. Sausages are, of course, also excellent on the BBQ or grill.
