A BBQ rub, also called a dry rub, is actually little more than a mixture of dried spices and herbs to season your meat (or fish). The big advantage of a dry rub is that there is no acid in the mixture, as is often the case with marinades, and therefore the structure of the meat is optimally preserved. A win-win to season your meat perfectly.

How do you use BBQ rub?
How you use a BBQ rub depends on the type of preparation of your piece of meat. Are you going to grill a steak (for example rib-eye) immediately? Then you can apply the rub to the meat a few minutes before preparing it. However, if you are going for a large piece of meat and an indirect preparation, it is best to use the rub a few hours in advance. Rub the rub well into the meat and let it rest covered for about six hours before preparing it.
Quick hamburger preparation
Grilling/baking: 4 minutes for rosé [including turning] in oil, butter or ghee
Sous vide: 1 hour at 52C and then grilling p>
