BBQ Bacon Bourbon Meatballs (BBQ Junkie)
BBQ + Bacon + Bourbon + Black Angus Ground Beef + BBQ Sauce = BBQ Bacon Bourbon Meatballs. Absolutely irresistible. I mean, whiskey-infused meatballs wrapped in bacon and glazed with BBQ sauce. What's not to love? Inspired by the one and only BBQ Junkie!
Preparing the Meatballs
Note: the ingredients list mentions 500 grams of ground beef. That’s a tight estimate. If you prefer generous-sized meatballs, it’s wise to use 600 or even 700 grams. We had a packed BBQ, hence the smaller meatballs. Place the ground beef in a bowl and add the egg, parsley, and black pepper (be generous!). Mix thoroughly and shape into 8 meatballs. Roll them in BBQ rub and wrap each one with 2 slices of smoked bacon (secure with a skewer if needed). Refrigerate the meatballs.
Smoking the Meatballs
Meanwhile, fire up the BBQ and bring it to a temperature of around 120°C (indirect heat). Once the correct temperature is reached, add the smoking wood to the hot coals. Place the meatballs on the BBQ grill and close the lid. Smoke the meatballs for about 20 minutes.
Injecting and Glazing the Meatballs

Fill the marinade injector with whiskey and inject the meatballs. Close the BBQ lid again and cook the meatballs for another 20 minutes. Afterward, brush them generously with BBQ sauce. Let them cook for another 10 minutes and glaze them once more. After a total of about an hour on the grill, the meatballs are cooked through and ready to be served.
ENJOY!
