About The Butchery

Bert-Jan Lantinga, founder of The Butchery, has been passionate about Asian cuisine from an early age. Over the years, he immersed himself in the rich culinary traditions of this unique continent. During his time living in Singapore, he truly fell in love with Asian cuisine in all its diversity. From sushi and teppanyaki to shabu shabu, yakiniku and Korean BBQ, as well as Thai and Vietnamese specialties — Asian food in all its varieties captured his heart.

In Singapore, Bert-Jan worked at a Meat Trading Company, where he refined his expertise in specialist cutting techniques for shabu shabu and Korean BBQ. Upon returning to the Netherlands, he continued traveling to Asia at least twice a year — often visiting Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo — to stay connected with friends, explore authentic restaurants and further deepen his culinary knowledge. He experienced traditional Japanese Wagyu menus in Tokyo and visited the best Korean BBQ restaurants in Seoul, bringing all those insights back home.

As the third generation of a butcher’s family, Bert-Jan now leads two butcher shops, his own artisan sausage production facility and a fully in-house meat production location — alongside The Butchery. To expand access to exceptional meat breeds, he launched The Butchery as an online premium butcher shop. Today, The Butchery delivers an extensive range of the world’s finest meats throughout the Netherlands.

Our selection includes exceptional breeds such as A5 Wagyu, USA Black Angus PRIME, Canadian Angus, Ocean Beef New Zealand, Aberdeen Angus Uruguay, Hereford Argentina, Ibérico Spain and Sashi Beef Denmark.

The Butchery Asian Style

The Butchery has evolved into a true online Wagyu specialist, particularly known for A5 BMS12. In addition, we offer a wide range of Asian-style cuts including shabu shabu, yakiniku, yakitori, teppanyaki and Korean BBQ selections.

Bert-Jan has completed specialized courses in precision cutting techniques, mastering slices from 2mm (perfect for shabu shabu) to 4mm (ideal for yakiniku). This craftsmanship continues to shape and expand our Asian-style assortment.

Order Meat Online

Ordering online is simple. Select your favourite products, add them to your cart and complete your order. Orders placed before 11:00 a.m. on business days can be delivered the same evening. Prefer another delivery day? You can easily choose your preferred date during checkout.

Your order is delivered flash-frozen — rapidly frozen within the hour after cutting — ensuring optimal quality and freshness. The meat can go straight into your freezer upon arrival.

All meat is trimmed, hand-cut, processed, portioned, vacuum-packed and flash-frozen in our own butcher shop. We control the entire process in-house to guarantee premium quality.
